Stay Stylish On Those Rainy Days!

A hurricane seemed to blast through Stillwater this past weekend. Did anyone see that one coming? I sure didn’t! And I definitely wasn’t prepared. Now that the leaves are changing colors and the scorching temperatures are slowly disappearing, well let’s just say you will be calling an umbrella your new best friend.

I don’t know about you but I dread these “down in the dump” days. All I want to do is lay in bed with my oversized sweats on watching My Best Friends Wedding. Going outside looking like a wet puppy dog is the last thing you probably want to look like walking to class, yea me too!No need to fear, ways to look fabulous on rainy days is here! Rain boots. Umbrella. The two essentials every girl needs. Choose from an endless selection of funky colors and patterns as well as style when it comes to rain boots. But don’t stop there; search until you find the perfect pair that best represents your personality. I guarantee you won’t go unnoticed. According to a Posh Glam blog, Hunter boots have been voted most popular and have been worn by almost every celebrity. Kate Moss and Nichole Ritchie have been spotted in these waterproof fabulous boots time and time again.

Not only can you stand out in a crowd by your trendy rain boots, but use an umbrella not just as a rain blocker but as a fashion accessory. There is no reason why you should stick to the classic black or grey. Purchase a stylish umbrella in your favorite bright color or groovy print to spice up your life and make that gloomy day a bit shinier. I chose a multi-colored floral print Coach umbrella with pastel colors to complete my outfit for a cool, calm and fresh look. Now you are ready to look hot on the rainiest days of the year.

Let it rain! Let it rain! Let it rain!

ORANGE: Is it just for OSU football and Halloween?

As you may remember orange was the single hottest color of spring 2011. But, it is continuing to be a hot color going into fall! Maybe it’s the miles of aisles of Halloween decorations and pumpkins starting to appear in stores or the overwhelmingly sea of orange on Saturday nights while watching Cowboy football that doesn’t make this color an appealing one to pull out of my closet for a night out on the town. But wait! Shades of shades can actually be worn to add warmth and life to your fall and winter wardrobe. Go from game day to date night in just three simple steps:

1.Loose the cowboy boots and add leopard pumps with your orange dress for a hot irresistible look.

2.Replace your orange, black and white plaid scarf with an orange floral or geometric print one to create a fun flirtystyle.

3.Switch your black purse and jewelry out with brown ones to create a gorgeous warm fall trend.

Okay okay we get it! Orange is great and all but what about impressing that cute boy I have had a crush on for weeks now? Well, here is the secret.  Orange paired with hot pink according the funky fashionista blog is a creative way to stand out in those overwhelming college crowds. Try mixing in a related orange shade with an accessory like a sassy rust shoe or a chic peach blazer, heads without a doubt will be turning your way!

Post-Labor Day: Should You Wear White?

Everyone has heard the rule, “No white after labor day!” This rule time and time again has restricted us from wearing those favorite white items of ours after this day. But, it has been said this rule may just be an outdated remnant of the past. My BCBG white fitted, empire waist dress is a favorite of mine that I can’t help but pull out of my closet to wear . So, what do I do!?

Judging by what designers sent down the runway for fall, it appears there’s no limit anymore, as long as it looks good! Celebs also seem more than ever to be breaking this Labor Day law. Just make sure to stay away from white linens. White linen is designed to shade the skin from direct contact with the sun, while allowing breeze in the warm weather. It is practical but a total no no for the cooler months.

A look like Kelly Rutherford’s is a stylish and versatile way to take a dress worn in those warm summer months to a 2011 fall fashion do. Kelly’s structured white dress paired with black hose and patent leather pumps is the perfect combo for this year.
